"At night, when the sky is full of stars and the sea is still you get the wonderful sensation that you are floating in space." - Natalie Wood

The Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth,
making this bar the lowest bar on earth.
There are no words to describe the sensation of floating in the Dead Sea. The water is saltier than salt itself. It hurts any open cut on your body and is slick like oil on your skin. The water is so buoyant that when you are on your stomach trying to swim, your feet somehow find themselves in the air. While walking into the water, there are random sink holes of Dead Sea mud, which is sold here for extravagant prices as body scrub but which I snagged a jar of from the sea floor. Since the words don't do it justice, I've posted a couple pictures.

Covered head to toe in Dead Sea mud.

Floating and reading the newspaper in the Dead Sea.
Would have worked better if it wasn't so windy.

  1. That is really cool. What a great experience and terrific memory. Guess when you run out of scrub you'll just have to go back and get some more!
